The Maria Montessori Education Foundation (MMEF) is the official New Zealand teacher training centre of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), welcoming both New Zealand and international students.

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded by Dr Montessori and her son Mario to maintain the integrity of her life's work and to ensure that it would be perpetuated after her death.

AMI graduates deliver what has been called Montessori’s Montessori, based on training grounded in a thorough understanding of Montessori principles and child development.

An AMI diploma is your passport to the world — giving you access to employment in an AMI school

in nearly every country in the world.

MMEF holds Category 1 Status

MMEF is a private training establishment registered with NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority).
Every four years NZQA conducts an EER (External Evaluation Review) to ensure that  NZQA quality standards are maintained. The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) requires stringent quality practices, therefore quality standards are independently maintained.

MMEF was rated ‘Highly Confident in educational performance’ and ‘Highly confident in capability in self-assessment’ in its most recent review. With these EER results, MMEF is deemed a Category 1 provider.
